New MP invited to next meeting

Calum Miller, the new MP for Bicester and Woodstock has been invited to join an extra-ordinary meeting on 29 July to hear concerns about this ridiculous plan.

The message that has been sent to him is detailed below. To add your voice to request his presence, please contact him directly at: calum.miller.mp@parliament.uk

"Dear Mr Miller

Firstly, congratulations on your election to Parliament as our representative for the Bicester and Woodstock constituency.

In previous times we sought support from our then MP with little success; we are hoping that things will be different with you.

I am the Chair of Bucknell Parish Council and the reason for writing to you is existential.

You are no doubt aware of the preposterous soundings that are being made by Puy du Fou to build a Theme Park in Bucknell. Their facility in France attracted 2.5 million visitors in 2023, they have regular laser and firework shows (>800 per showing) - they are seeking to do the same in our village. Whilst some from nearby towns think that it will great to have a Theme Park on our doorstep, it is obvious that they are attracted by the idea rather than the reality.

We need your support to oppose this ill-thought out proposal. We only discovered the plans the day after you were elected and the developers are holding initial consultations next week; talk about trying to railroad a "consultation" that they can "tick a box" to say that they have consulted. Our village will not survive this ridiculous proposal.

Together with neighbouring Parishes, we are seeking to understand the full extent of opposition to the plans. We have an extraordinary meeting in the Village on 29 July (7:30pm) and would request that you make every effort to attend.

Looking forward to meeting you then.

Kind regards

Cllr Chris Wells

Chair, Bucknell Parish Council "
